The first model with such a complicated feature as transforming dials was created by the Montblanc watch manufactory in 2010, and the new model follows its predecessor. The watchmaker created the designer watch with two subdials that function as an ordinary timekeeping device and can be transformed into a chronograph. The small subdial that shows hours is placed on the 12 o'clock position of the main plate, and has one small hour hand that moves around the plate marked with Roman numerals. The centrally mounted minute hand moves along the retrograde scale that is marked from 8:30 to 3:30 of the main scale representing the minutes. Seconds are displayed in a usual and expected way by the thin centrally mounted hand with the small red arrow at the end of the hand. The date is displayed at the upper part of the subdial located at the 6 o'clock position. So this is the first view of the luxury Montblanc Metamorphosis II high end watch with one small hour hand on upper subdial and minutes hand that moves the retrograde along the additional 60-minutes graded scale, while the red-arrowed seconds hand moves traditionally.
Once the lever on the left side of the watch case is actuated, the picture on the watch dials gracefully changes. The color of these two sub-dials is changed to dark grey, and these sub-dials become more visible. The upper subdial transforms into a new sub-dial with Roman numerals, while still showing the hours. The lower sub-dial transforms into a 30-minute scaled sub-dial instead of showing dates, and operates for the mono-pusher chronograph. At the same time, the watch's red-arrowed seconds hand starts its operation to show seconds for the chronograph function. The pushing of the watch crown located at the 3 o'clock position starts, resets, and stops the chronograph function. The mechanical movement that operates the “metamorphosis” transformation of two subdials is extremely complicated and involves the manipulation of 494 components inside the watch's mechanism.
These 18 luxury watch pieces are created with a 52 millimeter-wide round case made of red gold. As opposed to its predecessor that was tear-drop shaped, the Montblanc Metamorphosis II fine watch comes perfectly round and 15.8 millimeter thick, which can be considered as a large watch piece. The watch movement runs at 2.5 Hz or 18,000 vibrations per hour, and being hand-wound, it combines the modern and traditional watchmaking technologies. These 18 high end watch pieces by Montblanc come to the luxury watch market with the price of €270,000 or about $342,000 per unit. Bekijk meer horloge replica en breitling hercules horloge
